Located on the shores of Cape Breton Island, on Canada's East Coast, we are on the doorstep of the pristine cold waters of the Canadian North Atlantic. We draw on the experience of a centuries old seaside way of working and living to provide our customers with a safe, healthy, and quality produced product.
Premium Seafoods began in 1984 when three French Acadian entrepreneurs, Edgar, Brian, and John F. Samson, formed a small lobster and fish brokering company. At its peak, the group employed more than 200 workers and handled in excess of 15 million pounds of seafood annually.
Through the years, the business has held true to small community values and its French Acadian roots, with a belief in hard work, honesty, and commitment to the customer.
Premium Seafoods Limited has commenced its Whelk survey, 50 nautical miles outside NAFO Division 4W, and is authorized to fish for Waved Whelk and associated bycatch (Stimpson's Whelk and Moonsnail Whelk). The vessel Knotty Habits will set up to 1,500 traps in strings of 25 pots at approximately 20 fathom intervals.
